LJ icon communities
Nov. 30th, 2009 | 10:37 am
feeling:
anxious
Anyone know of a community on LJ that is specifically for artists to advertise icon commissions?
Thanks.
PS: I need about $800 by Friday or else I am screwed and will probably get kicked out onto the street. Boss promised my money would be in my bank account before Thanksgiving, but of course he lied.
Thanks.

Long time no see, eh?
Nov. 25th, 2009 | 01:42 pm
feeling:
scared
I forgot my LJ password and was too lazy to retrieve it, lol.
Anyway, to the few people who watch me on here, I have a dilemma... Money is still tight, especially when my boss refuses to pay me on schedule and rather prefers paying me only when he remembers or when I am pretty much on my knees and in tears. I barely have enough to pay the bills and I've been digging into my birthday money/savings to pay for groceries. My funds will not last long. I really don't want to end up moving back in with my family--I am always unhappy when around them.
I want to open commissions again. The problem with that is I can't seem to finish large commissions and end up dragging them on for months, even years. I have problems with composition, mostly. Small pictures, like simple chibis and icons I can do more quickly.
Would you be interested in buying an LJ icon commission--maybe even two or ten or twenty--from me? Not pixel icons (these aren't as simple as they look--they often take me about as long to do as large images), but Photoshop digital icons. They can be of your characters, you, whatever. I am thinking about making them $10 each. Is that a good price for icons here?
Also, what about coloring commissions? My big fuss over large commissions is that I can never come up with a satisfying composition, and then inking takes me forever that by the time I finish I get fed up with the composition and start it all over again. Do you have any lineart lying around that you'd like colored, for a price? Or maybe we can even join forces and do commission collabs?
I am--and will always be--available for website commissions. As in, I design and code up a website for you. I should be charging hundreds of dollars for these things, but I am so desperate that I will charge just $100 for a full website. Design and all. Maybe an extra $50 if it requires something complex (like a CMS) or contains a lot of pages (more than 5). Anyone interested in that?
Does anyone have other ideas? I've been checking out craigslist and other job sites for a better-paying job, but so far no luck. I am considering getting a job somewhere like Starbucks. How much do people get paid at Starbucks? Any retail places out there that are known for their high wages?
TL;DR: Neekko is running out of money and is in desperate need for a means of income.

Why don't you have a boyfriend?
