Thank you, economy.

feeling:
disappointed
Talked to my supervisor this morning and the final say is: they won't hire me as a full-time developer because of budget cuts. Buuuuuuuuut, I get to stay on part-time for as long as I want or until I find a better job. Plus, my supervisor will try to find some freelance stuff I could do on the side.
Well, at least I'll still be employed and wouldn't have to worry about finding another job anytime soon. B: Yes, I'm disappointed, but as long as I get my paychecks on time I should be good. I may open up for commissions again to cover "fun" expenses, though...
*SIGH*

Writer's Block: Le Quatorze Juillet

hopeful
"Bonus points for answers en français."
Oh god. Babelfish rape, anyone?
I like French fries (which doesn't count), The Triplets of Belleville, and Canadians.
Also, today I should hear the final word on whether or not I am hired at the company I'm currently interning for. I hope I do get the job. Wish me luck!

Reply to this meme by yelling "words!", and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your journal and explain what they mean to you. Keep in mind that if I don't know you that well, your words might end up kind of esoteric/oblique.

Conconcon
Jul. 7th, 2009 | 09:25 am
feeling:
dorky
July is con month. :O
This past weekend was Anthrocon, during which I was bipolarific. Lots of joy and lots of sadness. I'm guessing my foul moods came from the fact that I was surrounded by the most obnoxious people in the world. Namely, a man in short-shorts who sat way to close to me during the Masquerade and some shithead who is likely deaf, because even the thick layers of wax in my seldom-cleaned ears couldn't protect me from his monstrous laugh.
Other contributing factors included hunger and lack of money (well, I did have money, but I'm using it as a safety net in case my next paycheck doesn't come in on time... again). I then turned hypocritical with the money issue when
atomicfiction opened up some chibi icon commissions that were too cute to resist.
But it was a new experience. A bit underwhelming due to my being too used to Comic Con. The little money I did spend was on a print from
neondragon and a sketch badge from
spunkywulf (paid for by
busiris), to which I've added color and am currently using as an icon (I hope she doesn't mind). I spent more money on food this weekend (over $50, omg...) than con goodies.
We spent some time with
guyver47 and briefly chatted with
sorethumb (I'm looking up all you guys on LJ--I be stalkin'). Saw a lot of people I recognized, but I was too damn shy to talk with any of them.
Looking at the artist alley and dealer's room made me think about having my own table at a con one day. I doubt AC would be a good place, as I don't draw much furry art. Kawaii Kon sounds good, but I'd be spending so much on a plane ticket that it's almost not worth it. I wonder if there are other anime/comic conventions close by that would work...
I will be much happier at San Diego Comic Con, for sure!
Other news...
Well, been talking to my supervisor about taking on a full-time job. I should know for sure by the end of this week if I'll be an official employee or not. If not, well, time to hit up the craigslist.
